The adventure cyclist association developed in 1998 world's longest off-pavement cycling route and named it “great divide mountain bike route”. Of course, a great achievement. It is probably a bigger challenge to traverse the united states from north to south over the dirt roads of the rocky mountains, following the continental divide.
The great divide follows the same route as the transamerica cycling trail. The tour is open for men and women from all around the world with an age between 18 and 65. The following miles down to the town of platoro is possibly one of the most stunning sections of the entire great divide, especially in autumn when the aspens turn into a myriad of colors between.
